Suppliers in SE Asia May be better than China!

Proficient Sourcing LLC exists to help buyers improve supply chains.  We do this by offering proven candidates for OEM buyers’ outsourced manufacturing needs in almost any area.  Here’s just a partial listing of the capabilities we can provide.

Almost all our supplier candidates are domestic, and most are midwestern.  In some cases there’s a need for outsourcing overseas, and we have limited answers for such things, other than foundry work in China.  And many things work pretty well in China.

However there are many reasons why China has become less of a wonderful alternative.  Wages are increasing, shipping costs and leadtimes are way up, and there have been consistent concerns about intellectual theft and political interferences.  If you are sourcing in China and want an economical alternative, now we might have a new sourcing solution for you!  And while our wish is to reshore work to the US, sometimes that just won’t work for, among others, cost reasons.  Now we can recommend and provide another path.

We’re working with a sister company that specializes in moving manufacturing from China into well established facilities in SE Asia and others.  These might be Malasia, Viet Nam, India, and even places such as Turkey and Poland depending upon the particulars.  This company is located in Bankok, with resources in many of these countries.  Here are just a few advantages this company offers:

  • Different parts of the world have different raw material supply chains, different logistics and different costs, meaning that your $16,000 FCL shipping charge from China right now can cost only $8,000 from India – and not be stuck at port in Ningbo for a month or more.
  • The top producers of natural rubber in the world are Thailand, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam. China buys its natural rubber primarily from these markets, and so can you, if you cut out the middle man and buy direct from factories in countries like the above who have warm relations with the US.
  • Annual holidays in countries like China often last up to a month, causing a rush in the runup and scarcity as production ceases and orders cannot be processed. If you have dual sourcing between countries with different calendars, you can simply shift production to avoid holiday gluts.
  • Protecting your intellectual property is difficult in any overseas sourcing arrangement, but if you have, say, a container worth of flame cut metal sheets every month and a related container of machined bar stock every other month, you can protect your IP by sourcing them from different manufacturers in different countries who do not communicate or cooperate behind the scenes.

Their promotional message is this:

Zero are the odds you can fly into a country right now to meet suppliers, tour facilities, test products, conduct negotiations, inspect shipments or do any in-person business yourself.  We’re American and we’re in-country.

In some cases, we analyze your business needs today and start presenting technology prototypes tomorrow, while building out the supporting proposal for an airtight bid to begin nuts and bolts work as soon as you’re ready.

Sometimes it’s literally just inspecting products and shipments 9,000 miles away so you don’t have to, which can be done in short order, too.

Whatever your unique business needs, our approach has the same goal: deliver results ASAP, build on them quickly, refine goals and approach, then repeat.

So if we can help with domestic supplier requirements, or if you would like to explore non-China SE Asia sources (and others, such as Poland), just give us a call at (513) 489-5252.  We are ready when you are!
