We are particularly interested in working with OEM machinery and equipment builders.  Our network of shops contains many who are particularly focused and successful working with such customers.

Equipment and Machinery Engineering is a page describing some of our capabilities available to equipment and machinery manufacturers—especially large and heavy components.  But, of course, advertising is one thing; performance is quite another.

We understand the decision to go with a new supplier is difficult, and one that involves considerable risk.  After all, parts or assemblies are often large and expensive.  Such components are required to be fairly priced and precisely made so they fit the finished product.  This means finish, color, and all characteristics must be consistent with the final product.  Overall, the final hurdle is achieving buyer confidence that a decision to buy will result in a quality purchase in all aspects.

Recently we received initial purchase orders from two new equipment builders.  One is a foreign owned company interested in localizing more of their supply chain. In this case there were multiple plant visits in order to introduce multiple supplier candidates.  The candidates who demonstrated a fit were then asked to quote multiple items along with completing NDA’s and surveys to document capabilities and experience.  Proficient Sourcing serves to oversee and quarterback the supplier side of these events.

Eventually one candidate passed all tests and has been awarded an initial purchase order, along with a quality inspection by the purchasing company.  With success it is expected that this will lead to significant business.  The fit of capabilities and requirements seems to be very good, and pricing has been consistently competitive.  After several months we were able to establish a credible position and look forward to a long relationship of mutual benefit.

The second company is a precision equipment OEM located in a western state interested in expanding their supplier base.  In this case, distance precludes shop or company visits, so the OEM has been very careful to issue RFQ’s for a variety of things associated with their products.

Shop candidates have quoted on multiple occasions and particularly sensitive details have been extensively discussed.  After several of these events covering several months, we were able to convince this OEM that 2 of our candidates were indeed worthy of serious consideration and they each just received a significant initial purchase order.

And so two major potential customer candidates have awarded our candidates purchase orders following extensive investigation and competitive quoting, which is a sign of success.

We will provide a followup chapter to this story once these initial orders have been successfully received!
