Proficient Sourcing can help almost anyone considering reshoring manufacturing in 2022 and beyond. We can help by offering candidates for all manner of manufacturing with a network of companies, all of whom have a history of happy customers—without cost or obligation. Here are many of the capabilities we offer.
A particularly good example would be large iron/steel castings, which our source can now provide at nearly equivalent costs compared to Asia, given current shipping costs, and, of course, we can generate much faster delivery times.
Would that help you?

If you are considering either offshoring or reshoring, there are a great many factors to consider. The Reshoring Initiative’s, Harry Moser has worked for many years to help with this decision, and especially promoting the reshoring alternative. The Reshoring Initiative is a non-profit that helps bring manufacturing jobs back to the U.S. by providing free tools for manufacturers to compare the costs of offshoring and domestically sourced work.
One particularly useful item the Reshoring Initiative offers is their Total Cost of Ownership worksheet, which is available on their website via a dropdown. We have attended several of Mr. Moser’s presentations, and this worksheet would appear to quantify a number of issues that need to be considered when dealing with some foreign location.
Mr. Moser recently offered comments on current reshoring: “Capacity limits, especially workforce, will limit the reshoring of manufacturing jobs to an average of between 250,000 to 500,000 jobs per year maximum,” Harry Moser, Founder and President of the Reshoring Initiative, told GlobeSt.com.
More from GlobeSt.com: “Reshoring is on track to create more manufacturing jobs in the US than foreign direct investment for the third year in a row in 2022. The wave of manufacturing jobs from reshoring is projected to crest at 400,000 jobs by the end of the year, a 35% increase of 2021’s total of 261K. Unfortunately for the US, the labor shortage that is afflicting the nation from coast to coast is putting a ceiling on the number of overseas manufacturing jobs we have the capacity to absorb.” The GlobeSt.com link.
Given supply chain issues, with lengthy and expensive trans-ocean shipping, domesticating your manufacturing has many advantages. Not the least of these is that proximity to your manufacturing enhances your innovation potential, especially if your suppliers are within some easy visit radius. Another significant factor would be the legal protection the US provides to intellectual property. Knock-offs and outright theft of product designs are extremely difficult to carry off here; not so much in some other places.
Other advantages to reshoring would include the obviously improved supply chain and access to the US’s expansive natural resources. Even with the current administration’s battle to limit fossil fuels, our energy situation is far better than most alternatives.
FYI recently we received an email notice of a TOC online webinar, “How to Have a Secure Supply Chain”. It’s Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at 1:00 pm EST, and lasts 60 minutes. The presenter is the VP of Industry Reimagined 2030, a non-profit whose mission is to change the narrative of manufacturing to one of vibrant opportunity. Here’s the website to sign up. There is a cost for the webinar.
If you are working on a decision to either offshore or reshore, this might be useful, although we have no knowledge of this organization other than what the website link provides. The notice just appeared in our inbox, since we are always interested in reshoring news.
